Our School

St Lawrence Primary School, Church Stretton is a medium size school located in the heart of the beautiful Shropshire hills, serving a wide catchment area of pupils from surrounding villages. We have good links with our local community and nearby St Laurence’s Church (note the different spelling).

We have approximately 270 children on role in 9 mixed-year classes from 4 to 11 years. We are hoping to open a tenth class in September 2016. The school staff includes a mixture of long-serving and recently appointed teachers supported by a strong network of qualified teaching assistants in every class. An active and committed Governing Body and enthusiastic Friends of St Lawrence Primary School contribute significantly to the efficient running and success of the School. The school promotes a friendly and inclusive environment for staff and pupils. As well as promoting excellence in the National Curriculum we offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities through staff-run clubs and external expertise. A variety of enrichment opportunities are arranged to support individual class topics. We value and look after the needs of every child and strive to make sure that all of our pupils enjoy their time here. Our school is a place to grow in friendship and learn new skills and when the children leave at the end of Year 6 we aim to send them off  equipped for rest of their education and life in the big, wide world.
